Diablo is a perfect example of how ambilobes can change their bar coloration dramatically.  For the first 18 months of his life, he maintained very bright red bars.  He has now morphed into a gorgeous blue barred male.  We see this same change happening with his offspring.  They start out pretty much red barred, but with each month we see more and more blue.

This is him as a young adult.  We had already labeled him a red barred ambilobe.

This is what Diablo looks like at rest.His background color is usually neon green.

When he gets excited he turns bright yellow.

Today is the first entry of Diablo's project. Originally, he started off as a blue bar ambilobe, but he has been maturing with more red coloration.

This is Diablo in his blue barred phase.  We would have never guess that Diablo would display this color as an adult.

The result of breeding a male like Diablo is simply stunning.  We get a wide range of colors.  An almost perfect combination of Red and Blue bars, with a very high yellow background.  Simply Screaming
